MAPQUEST DRIVING DIRECTIONS

We have discovered different websites resembling MapQuest that are utilizing the same MapQuest format, look and feel of the real and true

"MAPQUEST.com"

When you open their webpage you get a very similar website that resembles MapQuest !!!

On these sites you can enter your starting point and your final destination. You will then get a route, just like you would on the real MapQuest.

These possible imposters are using different web addresses. Instead of using Mapquest.com they are using as an example, Mapquest, .biz, .org, .io, .info etc..

Or they utilize Mapquestdrivingdirections "dot" whatever but they will misspell something in Mapquestdrivingdirections, they will add an extra "s" to the end of directions or they will use some other misspelling to look like they are the real MapQuest.

This is an underhanded trick but they are getting away with it for now.

One of the fake sites has garnered a lot of web traffic, so be aware of the actual web address before you click to open a website that you think is the real Mapquest.

MAPQUEST DRIVING DIRECTIONS

We recently researched on Duckduckgo and Google, what returns a person gets when they type in "MapQuest Driving Directions".

Of course one gets the official MapQuest website at the top of the page.

This is immediately followed by websites who appear to not be an official MapQuest website. However these websites do offer driving directions similar to that of MapQuest.

We actually think that these websites may be utilizing the same driving directions "search engine" that MapQuest utilizes.

For many years our website that you are currently on "MapquestOriginal.blogspot.com" was the third ranked listing when you typed in "MapQuest classic original" in most search engines which were Google, Yahoo, Bing, or DuckDuckGo.

We diligently tried to remain in the third position of returns, but the search engines were uncooperative in divulging their information on how they ranked a website in page rank of returns, and we eventually dropped off the face of the earth when a person typed in MapQuest Original , MapQuest Classic, or a combination or MapQuest Classic Original.

We went from the first page of results to virtual obscurity. We think this may have occurred for political affiliation and social justice reasons, such as the banning of many famous people from twitter.

We will never know!!!

Every professional SEO company, which stands for "Search Engine Optimization", claimed in order to be a top listed, in the first page rank of any subject that you had to have the following criteria:

1) Backlinks from other reputable websites.

2) Lots of pertinent information on your website.

3) Keywords

4) A dotcom web address.

5) Unique, interesting info, design, pictures or videos.

Our website MapQuestOriginal.blogspot.com never had ANY backlinks from other websites, yet we maintained the third rank on the first page of returns. So all of the professional SEO websites were wrong in the fact that a website HAD to have backlinks for good SEO.

We also never obtained the proper dotcom address the SEO companies said was required. Our address should have been "MapquestOriginal.com" instead we used "MapquestOriginal.blogspot.com" because it was free through Blogger, which is also Blogspot.com

That's all for today , please come back soon!

The Internet is still the WWW

 uhm... thats WILD WILD WEST

not WORLD WIDE WEB.

We've been trying to figure out the internet for about 25 years!

And guess what? We still do not have a clue.

We created this website WWW.MapquestOriginal.blogspot.com

In order to generate income.

To do so, a web page has to get traffic. A way to get traffic is to

appear on the first page of results when the subject is entered. If a

person typed into a search engine Mapquest Classic or Mapquest

 Original

they would get a search results page that would list websites related

to Mapquest Original and or Mapquest Classic, and our webpage

used to be number 3 on that list! Which meant that some people

would see it and click on our Mapquest Original page and view it.

In order to rank number three on a search results query it was

 mandatory that a webpage have

1, Good interesting original content.

2. Backlinks (other popular websites that link to you)

3. An ample volume of content.

4. A privately owned and paid for domain name.

5. Good design, pictures, video, graphics.

Our Website Mapquestoriginal has three of the above five items.

Every web designer or page rank specialist says that you cannot

obtain page one results without having "Backlinks".

We however do not have not one single solitary backlink, yet we

obtained a page rank of number three on page one in a search result.

We also never purchased the domain name WWW.Mapquest.com

We continue to use WWW.MapquestOriginal.blogspot.com because

it is free to use the blogspot.com web address. In hind site we

probably should have purchased and used MapquestOriginal.com

But it is no longer a concern because our page rank now has fallen off

of the planet. We can not even locate our web page in search results.

So we are being punished by some one, we dont know who or why

 and probably never will!!!

But it doesn't matter because MapQuest has dropped off of the

 proverbial MAP.

Every one now uses GPS on their cell phone or on their vehicle.

 Hey Hey Hey!

We just went to the MapQuest website vie our cell phone, just to see how this website MapquestOriginal.blogspot.com looked.

Well much to our surprise MapQuest still doesn't get it. The get it fact is that MapQuest needs to be more user friendly.

Long ago MapQuest changed their format from user friendly and free to what many Mapquesters* deemed un-user friendly but still free.

We personally like the option to turn off cookies and to not allow third party companies to track our every move online. Some websites make it very hard to turn off cookies or third party tracking companies.

We just tried to turn off cookies and third party tracking, but it was very difficult and we were not sure if it actually worked.

Well it seems that the problem from above was that we were using a VPN, a virtual private network that masks a users location and internet address. Our VPN shows that we were located in Europe, and Europe has different internet protocols and usage rules. In Europe you are given the option of turning off a websites cookies and third party trackers, but in the USA you're not even made aware of these options. To the best of our knowledge, this is how we think it works, we're not experts.

Once we turned the VPN off we were able to access Mapquest without giving any type of cookie or third party tracking/monitoring consent, we presume we have to accept cookie and third party trackers unless you go into your browser settings and disable or change the settings.

My neighbor says she doesn't care who tracks her or who spies on her, she just uses everything with no worries or concern. I wish I could be that way, but alas I can not, I don't like snooping, spying, companies who profit off of my info.

FYI~ Mapquest is still the best for Maps and Directions!!!

Mapquester* we coined this new term just now, a person who uses, or is a fan of MapQuest is a Mapquester.
